A woman who overdosed on heroin in Staten Island was found passed out in a running car as her 3-month-old son sat crying in the back seat, police said.

Police were called to the parking lot of a pizzeria on Arthur Kill Rd. around 10 p.m. Saturday where they found Katelyn Cox, 24, slumped over in the driver’s seat of her Hyundai Sonata with the child sitting in a rear car seat.

Police opened the car door and noticed the woman was unconscious and turning blue, police said.

The officers quickly gave her two doses of naloxone — a drug that reverses the effects of a heroin overdose — causing her to regain consciousness.

Cox and her son were rushed to Staten Island University Hospital South for treatment.

The baby was not harmed and was in the custody of the Administration for Children’s Services, police said.

Cox was later charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child, reckless endangerment, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and refusing to take a breathe test.
