Six people were hospitalized after a crash in the South Loop early Sunday, authorities said.

About 3:30 a.m., a Toyota Camry driving the wrong way down South Jefferson Street drove onto Roosevelt Road and crashed into a city tow truck, police said.

The impact made the vehicle crash into a storefront in the 600 block of West Roosevelt Road, police said.

Six people were taken to area hospitals. Two went in serious-to-critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Two others went to Rush University Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition, and two more went to Mercy Hospital in good-to-fair condition.

According to police, all the people taken to hospitals were adults between ages 18 and 22.

The driver of the tow truck was unhurt, and no injuries were reported to people outside the vehicles. The building sustained only minor damage.
