A country built on hope; heading in the wrong direction: Letters to the editor

Keep hope alive: I am 65 years old, have voted in every possible election in my life, and have only ever been involved politically once before, in 1970 in a Vietnam War march. I feel compelled to say something again.

Our country is built on hope. My great grandparents came here from Norway in hopes of building a better life. Most of your families came here for the same reason.

Building walls to keep people out, and singling out people based on their religion to keep them out of this country is based on fear. It is the same kind of fear which caused us to intern Japanese-Americans during World War II - not a proud moment in our country's history.

Please let your voice be heard. Make all of those you know aware of how you feel. Write postcards to our representatives. Get involved. We, the people, are our hope for the future.
