A suicide bomber blew up in the Afghan capital. He was driving a checkpoint with an ambulance full of explosives.

Afghanistan: More than 90 deaths on attack in Kabul

In a self-suicide, at least 95 people were killed and 158 injured in middle of Afghan capital Kabul. The number of deaths could increase even furr, said a government spokesman. The Afghan Ministry of Health thus confirmed corresponding media and eyewitness reports. Previously, radical Islamic Taliban had taken responsibility for deed.

As a spokesman for Ministry of Interior said, attack occurred at a security post of former Interior Ministry, which is still used to share. Thus, assassin used an explosive-laden ambulance. According to speaker, offender could still pass a first security post in heavily guarded street after he indicated that patients would be brought to a nearby hospital. At a second checkpoint, however, he was stopped and "recognized". Then he detonated explosives.

The Taliban claimed act with a message on Twitter for mselves. They claimed to have killed and injured at least 80 policemen.

In vicinity of attack site in central government and business district of Coulter-E Nau are also legation of European Union, several embassies, including those of Sweden, India and Indonesia, a building of Afghan Secret Service and Or government buildings as well as Kabul police headquarters. The road is one of best secured roads in Afghan capital and is protected by at least two security posts by both sides; Pedestrians are seldom allowed deep inside. At sourn end where explosion happened, re is a large Sedarat square with lots of shops.

The explosion was felt all over city, it was said in station TOLONews. Pictures of place of attack showed house facades, left naked by force of detonation, with windows, doors and shop signs blown out. The road was littered with shards of glass and debris. Photos on social networks showed a huge cloud of smoke.

The security situation in Afghan capital has deteriorated sharply since end of NATO combat mission in December 2014. 2017 re were more than 20 grave attacks by Taliban and terrorist militia "Islamic State" (IS). More than 500 people died in assassinations. Most recently, Taliban militants attacked Intercontinental hotel and killed at least 22Menschen. Most of victims were foreigners, including anda Germans.
