President Trump's idea of protecting the citizens from foreign terrorists is wrongheaded. I doubt that he would be looking at the real cause of Americans dying every year. If he did, he would know this disaster is from gun violence perpetrated by homegrown gun owners.

Seldom do we hear of a foreign terrorist killing one or many of us. We also know that the gun makers and their lobbyists have strong support from the president and the favor is returned through massive campaign contributions.
 
The easy availability of guns in this country makes it one of the nations chalking up a stratospheric tally of deaths by guns each year. I do not have to remind everyone that other civilized nations don't have this kind of a problem.
 
No amount of extreme vetting of immigrants from the Muslim world would increase the safety of the United States unless the gun issue is addressed. Did we just learn that mentally ill individuals can own firearms, too?
