Severe storms have caused landslides and floods in the Philippines. More than 200 people have perished in the south of the island State.

A tropical storm caused severe thunderstorms in Philippines. According to Philippine police, at least 200 people have died in aftermath of storm. The worst affected was province of Lanao del Norte, where more than 120 people were killed by Saturday evening and around 70 more were still missing.

Storm Tembin brought heavy rainfall to authorities, causing floods and landslides. A lot of people would be missing. It is particularly affected by Mindanao, second largest island in Philippines. Near town of Tubod a mountain village should have been completely destroyed. The town of Piagapo is also said to have been badly damaged by rubble and mud avalanches. The rescue work was difficult according to authorities ' information because power and communication lines were interrupted. More than 20Millionen people live in Mindanao.

The storm Tembin reached maximum wind speeds of 100Kilometern per hour, gusts came up to 130 kilometers. The storm is expected to pull off from sourn part of Philippines on Sunday in direction of South China Sea.

Every year, nearly 20 typhoons and storms cross Philippines, only last week more than 50 people were killed by Tropical Storm Kai-Tak. The island state Giltals one of most catastrophically vulnerable countries in world.
