Sunday's recap: Blackhawks 5, Sabres 1

The Blackhawks took over in the final two periods Sunday and ran away from the Sabres in a 5-1 victory.

The Hawks have now won six of their last seven games, 11 straight against the Sabres, and got a goal from every line Sunday.

The Hawks got on the board first with a nice shot from Ryan Hartman, who sent home a wrister over the left shoulder of Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner from the right circle at 13:34. It was Hartman's 14th goal of the season.

The Hawks later killed a 5-on-3 Sabres power play in the period thanks to some solid work in net by Scott Darling but the Sabres got a tying goal with 5.6 seconds left in the period when Evander Kane scored off a nice pass from Jack Eichel.

But the Hawks took control in the second period thanks to goals from Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews. Hossa scored on a wrist shot from the right circle that somehow made it through the equipment of Lehner at 9:40 to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead.

Then Toews made it 3-1 when he fought for position in front of the net and put home a Richard Panik rebound at 15:26.

Finally, the second line of Artem Anisimov, Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin, who had been quiet most of the night, gave the Hawks their fourth and fifth goals in the third when Anisimov scored to cap a nice bit of tic-tac-toe passing between the three at 3:29 and Kane put on a puck-handling clinic in front of goaltender Robin Lehner before putting the puck in the net at 6:36.
