The Kiwanis Foundation of Easton presented a nice day-late Valentine's gift to the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society recently.

The NCHGS has several museum sites in Easton and one is the 1753 Bachmann Publick House at Second and Northampton streets. It is Easton's oldest building, containing the last remaining Northampton County colonial-era courtroom.

Easton Kiwanis' gift of $5,000 will allow the NCGHS the ability to re-create an original dry goods store inside the Bachmann.

Experience a 1750s dinner at Bachmann

Since Kiwanis' primary focus is children, they and all visitors will have the ability to interact inside the dry goods store with the exhibits in a touch and feel environment known as Experiential Learning. Coming sometime soon Easton's original 5- and 10-cent store will return to the Bachmann.

Easton Kiwanis meets at noon Wednesdays at the Pomfret Club, 33 S. 4th St., Easton except for the last Wednesday of the month when they meet at 8 a.m. at Easton Market, 325 Northampton St.
