Toddler found walking alone in wet diaper on street, cops say

A Catasauqua woman is facing a criminal charge, after her toddler son was found walking alone outside in a wet diaper.

The boy was spotted by a good Samaritan at about 11a.m. Tuesday near Second and Pine streets, wearing a shirt and a wet diaper, but no pants, socks or shoes, police said. The temperature at the time was about 32 degrees, police said.

The man who found the boy told police the child almost walked out into traffic, and he wrapped the child in a coat until police arrived.

The child was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township, where he was treated and released to Lehigh County's children and youth services.

Police began looking for the child's address, and discovered he lived in the 100 block of Walnut Street.

When officers went to the apartment, they found the boy's mother, Justine Laudenslager, asleep on the couch, police said.

Laudenslager was shown a picture of the boy, and told police she was his mother.

The 29-year-old was arrested and charged with child endangerment. She was freed on $10,000 unsecured bail.
