Delta adding nonstop flights between Chicago and Seattle

Delta Air Lines is adding daily nonstop service between Chicago's O'Hare International and Seattle-Tacoma International airports beginning June 19, the latest airline to announce new Chicago routes.

The direct service from Delta's growing Seattle hub includes three daily round-trip flights on Airbus A319 jets with such amenities as high-resolution screens at every seat, free entertainment, large overhead bins and newly designed lavatories, the Atlanta-based airline said.

"We have built a robust network from Seattle to key U.S West, Midwest and East destinations over the last few years, complementing service to Europe, Asia and Latin America," John Caldwell, Delta's Seattle vice president, said in a news release Monday. "Adding Chicago fulfills a key part of our vision for the Pacific Northwest and provides our customers access to all of the most important destinations from Seattle."

Delta announced the addition of seven new nonstop destinations from Seattle earlier this year, and will serve 17 of the top 20 U.S. destinations from its northwest hub by the summer.

United Airlines and American Airlines, which both already offer nonstop service between O'Hare and Seattle, also have recently announced new routes out of O'Hare.

American will begin flying to nine new domestic cities out of O'Hare this summer. The new markets are: Appleton, Wis.; Birmingham, Ala.; Boise, Idaho; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Hattiesburg, Miss.; Greensboro, N.C.; and Greenville, S.C., with summer service to Ontario, Calif., and Bozeman, Mont.

United is rolling out 47 new daily round-trip flights this summer, including service to six new destinations from O'Hare: Champaign; Columbia, Mo.; Rochester, Minn.; Charlottesville, Va.; Reno, Nev.; and Spokane, Wash.
