Emotions have long been expressed in digital communication with emoticons. According to a survey, prefabricated emojis are also dominating in Germany.

Emoticons are increasingly being supplanted by emojis in digital communication. This is conclusion of a FORSA survey on behalf of German Language society. Instead of faces that are composed of punctuation and special characters, users use prefabricated pictograms for example in chats.

According to survey, for both women and men, loosening of communication comes first when using emojis. But re are also differences: women are expression of ir feelings important, men, on or hand, use emojis and emoticons, even if ir interlocutor uses m – as a kind of reflection.

Anor result of FORSA survey is that text messages become more unpopular. Tapping more and more users is too cumbersome. Instead, y put more emphasis on voice messages.

In January 2018 a total of 2,001 Internet users between 14 and 60 years of age were surveyed from Germany.
