Public service: Agreement on collective bargaining

The public sector employees of federal government and municipalities should receive more income in three stages after a preliminary negotiation result. Retroactively on March 1, 2018, re will be an average of 3.19 per cent more salary, on 1 April 2019 3.09 percent more and on 1 March 2020 anor 1.06 percent. In addition, re will be a one-time payment of 250 euros up to remuneration group Six.

The duration of collective agreement should be 30 months. The bodies of employers and trade unions must still agree with outcome. In a positive vote, furr warning strikes would be definitively averted.

The trade unions Ver. Di and DBB had originally demanded six percent more pay for approximately 2.3 million public service workers, but at least 200 euros per month.

Collective bargaining is already third round of negotiations, and on Tuesday Confederation and employers ' associations made first offer. Previously, y rejected trade union demands as too high.

Municipalities, in particular, find it problematic to raise union's demand, especially lower and middle income. On or hand, VKA President Thomas Böhle wants to strengn skilled workers in upper wage groups because re is a shortage in this area. However, Böhle had also announced that in case of improvements for skilled workers, re would also be something for lower pay groups. The demand for six percent more money is too expensive for employers of federal government and municipalities.
