KOREATOWN — Five people, including a baby, suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Koreatown, authorities said.

It was reported at 8:57 p.m. Monday at 1599 West Pico Blvd., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two cars collided and a car containing a family of four struck a planter in front of a fast-food restaurant, said Sgt. Roy Escalante of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division. Two patients required extrication from that vehicle by firefighters using the jaws of life, according to Stewart.

Two parents and a 17-year-old boy had bumps, bruises and complaints of pain while the 9-month-old boy had a bump on his forehead and a small abrasion, Escalante said. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The woman driving the other car was also taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was booked for misdemeanor DUI, he said.

Each driver told police the other ran a red light, Escalante said.
