The South Fraser Station Partners consortium, formed by Acciona (33.3%), AECON and Pomerleau, has been selected by the province of British Columbia (Canada) as 'preferred proponent' or "highest bidder" for the station contract. Vancouver's 'Surrey Langley Sky Train' project.

This operation includes the design and construction of eight new passenger stations, nine substations, three bus interchanges and 250 meters of track, according to a statement. The financial closing of the project is scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.

The contract is part of the project to extend the current route of the Expo Line, by 16 kilometers from King George station in Surrey to the center of Langley, providing a "fast, safe and sustainable" transport option for the citizens of the region.

By 2050, projections indicate that the City of Surrey, the City and Borough of Langley will increase their population by approximately 420,000 people and create 147,000 new jobs.

"The demographic leap will accentuate the demand for transportation in this area and this project will greatly contribute to satisfying it," the statement highlighted.

In Canadian territory, Acciona has already participated in the construction of some of the country's large infrastructures, such as the Site-C Clean Energy project (British Columbia), the Walterdale Bridge in Edmonton (Alberta), the Southeast Stoney Trail project in Calgary ( Alberta) or the A-30 highway in Montreal (Quebec).

The company also has offices in Toronto and Vancouver. Its current projects in British Columbia include the new Pattullo Bridge over the Fraser River and the extension of the Broadway subway (Vancouver).
