BBVA Spain affirms that the purchase and sale of homes in 2023 will be above the level of 2019

MADRID, 4 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The head of BBVA Spain, Peio Belausteguigoitia, stated this Monday that home sales will end 2023 above the 2019 level, despite the fact that a fall of between 15% and 20% is expected this year compared to the record of 2022.

This was stated during his speech at the 1st Banking Forum organized by Prensa Ibérica, in which he pointed out that, despite the uncertainty derived from the rise in rates and inflation, there is data for 2023 that compares "favorably" with 2019.

"We talk about the environment in which we are living and the word uncertainty comes to mind, fundamentally, due to interest rates and inflation," he noted. However, he has indicated that the data that BBVA has from its products and by credit segments "continues to compare favorably" with that of 2019, when there was "less talk about uncertainties."

He has pointed out, however, that "what is expected" is that the rise in interest rates will end up having an impact "in some way" on the demand for credit, although he has indicated that it is "early" to draw definitive conclusions due to the "abrupt" change. in the type environment.

Thus, he has asked to wait for the next 12 months to get an idea of how both the family and business segments will continue to behave in the current context of interest rates that are around 4%.
