Bundle up N.J., chilly weather returns this weekend

After three straight days when afternoon temperatures climbed into the upper 40s across most of New Jersey, it's back to feeling like February.

Except for some scattered flurries in the Sussex County area, it'll be a dry Friday across New Jersey with seasonably chilly temperatures statewide.

What did the groundhogs say?

Temperatures as of 6:15 a.m. range from 11 in Walpack to 30 across several South Jersey towns, according to the state climatologist's office. Most of New Jersey is in the mid-to-upper 20s this morning, only about 10 degrees less than what afternoon highs are expected to reach.

The National Weather Service says temps will reach 35 in Newark, 36 in Camden and 37 in Seaside Heights.

It'll be a brisk overnight with temps falling into the upper teens and low 20s.

Skies will be sunny Saturday but the mercury will be in the low 30s -- about 5 to 8 degrees below normal.

There's a slight chance of rain and snow showers in North Jersey on Sunday but little to no accumulation is expected. Highs will be in the 30s on an otherwise mostly cloudy day.

Monday will be milder with partly sunny skies and high in the low to mid 40s.
