Congress will debate this Thursday the PSOE proposal to position Spain as a "leader in industrial tourism"

MADRID, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Industry and Tourism Commission will debate and vote this Thursday on a non-law proposal from the PSOE to promote "tourist-industrial experiences", as well as the maintenance and conservation of the available industrial heritage, with the aim of positioning Spain as a "leader in industrial tourism".

"Industrial heritage is a resource capable of attracting tourist flows that are motivated by knowing cultural, monumental, archaeological or any other human manifestations that help their personal enrichment," as the party has defended in the text of its proposal, to which Europa Press has accessed.

Thus, the Socialist Group highlights the examples of industrial archeology spread throughout the territory, where Catalonia, the Basque Country, Asturias or Castilla La-Mancha, among others, are being "pioneers" in this type of tourism due to the large number of facilities, infrastructure and public works of an industrial nature that they have.

In this context, the socialist proposal also aims to update the current National Industrial Heritage Plan, which includes movable and immovable property and sociability systems generated by the economic system that emerged from the industrial revolution and that are related to work culture.

Finally, the last objective is to promote, among the industry, the application of the UNE-ISO 13810 Tourism Quality Standard as a "management tool to show visitors their present or past production processes, with the aim of providing added value to its activity, as well as favor the improvement of its image and competitiveness".
