eBay bids for 'Trump' Taj Mahal casino sign letters pass 7K

ATLANTIC CITY -- A casino sign with the letters of President Donald Trump's last name has passed $7,000 bidding on eBay.

The sign was part of "Trump" branding removed from the Taj Mahal hotel as a condition of a 2015 sale agreement with its new owner, Carl Icahn.

As of 8 p.m. Sunday, the highest bid was $7,100, which still didn't meet the reserve minimum amount required by the seller.

Trump lost control of the casino in 2009, when he resigned as chairman of Trump Entertainment following its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and gave up his stake in the company.

Icahn, who purchased the casino in bankruptcy court, closed it in October following a weeks-long strike by union members.

Icahn since moved to surrender his casino license, but said the property isn't for sale.
