MANCHESTER  --The forest fire that burned that burned about 570 acres in Ocean County has been deemed 100 percent contained, officials said Monday.

The blaze in Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area didn't cause any damage to property nor did it lead to any evacuations, according to Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Bob Considine said. 

Crews are still monitoring the remnants of the fire and will strengthen containment lines as needed, the spokesman said.

Firefighters finished backfiring operations by dark Sunday and two engines monitored the fire overnight, officials added.

Route 539, which was closed for several hours Sunday due to drifting smoke, re-opened at 4 p.m.

The Cedar Bridge Fire Tower located the fire around 10 a.m. 

The forest spans more than 32,000 acres in Ocean County in Barnegat, Berkeley, Lacey, Manchester and Woodland townships.
