Hard return to earth for the Alliance

The Montreal Alliance will have to wait before winning the first match in its history abroad. The Quebec team of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (LECB) was beaten 87 to 62 by the River Lions in Niagara on Friday.

The Ontario team put all the chances of winning on their side by starting the game on a high note, quickly taking a 17-4 lead in the first quarter.

The River Lions added on the half-time return by scoring 29 points to just 12 in the third quarter.

American full-back Khalil Ahmad ended hostilities with a two-point basket. He had 14 points and nine assists, leading his team along with Antonio Davis Jr. (15 points and 11 rebounds).

On the Alliance side, Dominic Green and Isiah Osborne both had 15 points, but the latter showed much more opportunism than his teammate (54% of successful shots against 31%).

The Alliance will return to the Verdun Auditorium, where they are undefeated in two games, on Sunday when they face the Guelph Nighthawks.
