Meth, ammo found in fugitive's car, Bethlehem cops say

A Lehigh County fugitive was arrested in Bethlehem, and found with more than $1,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine plus paraphernalia, ammunition and other contraband, city police said.

David Reppert, 32, of the 2200 block of West Highland Ave. in Allentown, was stopped for traffic violations about 7:35 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Montclair Avenue on South Side Bethlehem, police said.

Officer Emily Falko learned Reppert was wanted by Fountain Hill police for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop Friday in the neighboring borough. Reppert was taken into custody on the Fountain Hill warrant and turned over to borough police for transport to Lehigh County Jail.

Faldo observed hypodermic syringes scattered about the vehicle, and officer Robbie Hoppes responded to the scene with his K-9 partner, Blaze, to check for further signs of drugs, police said in a news release.

Blaze indicated drugs were present, and a search turned up 24 bags of crystal meth valued on the street at $960 and a large bag of meth worth $300, all in the area the K-9 had alerted, police said.

Police said they also recovered 53 doses of the sedative alprazolam valued at $530; an assortment of glass pipes, spoons and bags consistent with the use of drugs and packaging drugs for sale; AR-15 magazines, several bullets and two knives.

Reppert was arraigned before District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez on a felony count of drug possession with intent to deliver, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge for non-functioning rear lights. He was ordered held in lieu of 10 percent of $40,000 bail and faces a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled Feb. 13 before Matos Gonzalez.

In the Lehigh County case, he was arraigned Sunday night before District Judge Patricia Engler on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude police, in addition to five summary traffic offenses. He was ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bail and faces a preliminary hearing tentatively set for Feb. 6.
