Chicago police have issued an alert after a woman said she was thrown to the ground and sexually assaulted in the Galewood neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The woman told police she was walking in the 1600 block of North Melvina Avenue last Saturday when someone approached her from behind and attacked her, police said.

The attacker was described as black, 30 to 35 years old, 160 pounds, thin build and wearing a black knit cap, black hoodie and black jeans.
