State police are investigating a report of an attempted child luring that occurred Monday morning in Loyalhanna Township, according to a news release.

An 8-year-old girl told police that a white man attempted to lure her into a van at a school bus stop near Moween Road just after 8 a.m. by asking her if she wanted some candy. The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds.

Police said the man had his long brown hair pulled back in a bun and a long brown beard. He was wearing a red and white flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing tattoos on both forearms.

The girl told police that the man was driving a full-size white van – possibly a Ford Ecoline. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-727-3434.
