A 73-year-old Portland woman apparently drowned Tuesday afternoon in a southwest Oregon hotel and casino pool, deputies said.

Staff members from at Canyonville's Seven Feathers Casino Resort pulled Joanne Saito from the water and tried to save her after she was found not breathing in the pool, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. 

First responders also tried to save her, but she was eventually declared dead, the agency said in a news release. Authorities are continuing to investigate her death.
