Record-breaking warmth closes out a weekend that didn't feel like February

It's still February. But this weekend sure didn't feel like it.

A record high of 68 degrees was recorded for Sunday in Allentown, obliterating the date's previous record of 63 set in 1997, according to the National Weather Service.

Records for the day were also broken in Philadelphia, Reading, Trenton and Wilmington, Del.

It was the second day of remarkable warmth: On Saturday, Allentown matched its 2011 record high of 67 degrees.

Looking ahead, things should cool down early in the week, though the weather service says that highs in the 40s and 50s are still 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. However, forecasts indicate that 60s and 70s are again possible around midweek.

The National Weather Service on Friday also noted that by March 1, Allentown will have recorded 23 consecutive months -- dating back to March 2015 -- of above-normal monthly average temperature.
