Firefighters responded Tuesday evening to a fire at a metal scrapyard in Williams Township.

It was reported about 5:40 p.m. at Easton Area Metal Recycling, formerly Easton Auto Salvage, at 525 Cedarville Road.

The Williams Township Fire Co. reported fire in either a trailer or a pile of scrap vehicles, a Northampton County 911 dispatch supervisor said.

The township called in one engine from Safety First Volunteer Fire Co. in West Easton, the dispatcher said.

An employee of Easton Area Metal Recycling was not immediately available for comment but said shortly after 6 p.m. he was headed to the yard.
