Some 1,500 Renfe workers, according to the unions' calculations, have gathered this Wednesday in front of the Congress of Deputies to demand the unblocking of collective bargaining and the expansion of the templates in the public company, before starting a strike of three days on October 28.

The protest has been called by CC.OO., UGT and the Spanish Union of Railway Engineers (Semaf) and has started at 12:00 in the capital under the slogan: 'Collective agreement in Renfe. More employment. More rights'.

With a multitude of UGT and CC.OO. flags, as well as some autonomous communities such as Asturias, the demonstrators have chanted some demands such as "Renfe, listen, the staff is fighting".

The secretary of the state railway sector of the UGT, Miguel Ángel Escolano, has justified the concentration on the need to ask the company for more employment for next year, especially in the face of the extension of the free season ticket announced by the Government and which has a greater Workload.

"Many irregularities are taking place when it comes to formalizing the tickets and we ask for good management, as well as advancing the 2023 public employment offer because more personnel are needed to manage this measure," added Escolano.

The intention of this Wednesday's call in front of Congress is to receive a positive response from the company or from the Government itself through the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, but if this does not happen, the unions have already threatened to carry out the strike call.

This is scheduled for October 28 and November 7 and 11. While the first day will last all day, the two subsequent ones will take place from 06:00 to 09:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00.
