Stunned neighbors recall Lancaster fatal stab victims as "decent guys"

Neighbors in a Lancaster community where two disabled men were stabbed in a double homicide recalled the brothers as "decent guys," reports say.

A memorial for Leroy Kinsey, 61, and Richard Walton, 62, was left by relatives following the grizzly slayings Sunday, with signs on the door saying, "R.I.P. Uncle Leroy and Uncle Richard" and "We love you." Candles also were lit around the tribute.

Juan Cristo-Munoz Jr., 19, and Joshua Proper, 18, both of Lancaster, are accused of breaking into the home in the 600 block of Poplar Street around 1 a.m. and killing the pair. Police believe the suspects gained access through a first-floor window, demanded cash and then, repeatedly stabbed the victims.

The suspects then retreated to the basement when they were found and arrested by police. A caretaker in the apartment escaped and called 911.

Both Walton and Kinsley were covered in blood and had sustained apparent trauma from stab wounds, according to the PennLive report. Autopsy results are pending in the case.

Police did not disclose in various reports what weapon was used on Kinsey, but said Cristo-Munoz used a large sword to slash Walton in his leg and torso area. A motive remains unclear.

Neighbors in an ABC-27 News broadcast reported hearing screaming during the invasion. Gene Groff, who lives nearby told Pennlive Walton was a big-hearted veteran who "deserved better."

Family members talked to lancasteronline about the struggles the brothers both had, suffering each from disabilities. Walton had a prosthetic leg and used a wheelchair to get around while Kinsey had a stroke recently and suffered from back pain, a woman who identified herself as their niece stated in the report.

"These are my son in laws' uncles!! They wouldn't of hurt a fly!! One was in a wheelchair and the other one used a walker. Please keep Randy L. Walton and his family in your prayers," Robin Sue Murphy Kahn recently posted on Facebook.

Cristo-Munoz and Proper each are charged with two counts of criminal homicide, one count of burglary, one count of criminal conspiracy to commit burglary and two counts of robbery. Both were sent to Lancaster County Prison without bail.
