The Generalitat of Catalonia says that the Government had "the commitment" to reduce manual risks in Rodalies

BARCELONA, 8 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Territory of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Juli Fernández, has assured that the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of the Government had "the commitment to install a system that tried to reduce these manual risks" in Rodalies since 2008.

He said this in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio picked up by Europa Press this Thursday, the day after the collision of passenger trains at the station of Montcada i Reixac - Manresa (Barcelona).

Faced with this accident, the minister has demanded that the Government comply with this commitment and has made Renfe ugly for the "lack of investment" in Rodalies.

He has said that the Ministry has the same information as this Wednesday: the accident was caused by a manual operation at the entrance to a curved station, an operation that, for him, "always increases the risk."

And he regretted that the situation in which the railway infrastructures in Catalonia find themselves generates "uncertainty" in the lives of citizens.

Asked about the transfer of Rodalies to the Government, he replied that it is "plausible" and that work is being done so that it can happen as soon as possible, he said verbatim.

According to him, this situation is not going to change "from one day to the next" when the Government manages it, but he has assured that there must be a scenario that allows the horizon of improvement of this service to be real.
