The sale of homes registers its best October in 15 years, with 51,615 operations, 11.4% more

The purchase and sale of homes rose 11.4% last October in relation to the same month of 2021, to add 51,615 operations, its highest figure in an October since 2007, when more than 58,500 purchases were exceeded, as reported by this Friday the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With the interannual advance in October, the sale of homes chains 20 consecutive months of positive rates. In addition, the growth of operations has accelerated 4.5 points compared to the year-on-year rise in September, when home sales increased by 6.9%.

The year-on-year rise in home sales in October was the result of the 15.6% increase in operations on used homes, up to 42,771 sales, since operations on new apartments decreased by 5.4% year-on-year, to a total of of 8,844 transactions.

92% of the homes transferred by sale in the tenth month of the year were free homes and 8% were protected.

The sale of private homes rose 11.9% year-on-year in October, to 47,500 operations, while that of protected ones advanced 5.2%, totaling 4,115 operations.

In monthly terms (October over September), the sale of homes fell by 10%, less than it did in 2021, when operations fell by 13.6% in October.

In the first ten months of this year, the sale of homes has increased by 17.6%, with increases of 20.7% in the case of second-hand homes and 5.4% in new homes.
