The second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, expressed confidence this Monday in the possibilities of an agreement between employers and unions on the increase in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) within the framework of the dialogue table that has called for this Thursday.

"I ask the social agents here that, for the good of our country, for the need for serenity and tranquility (...), we rise to the occasion and reach an agreement," Díaz expressed to the press in Brussels, where he is attending a council of ministers of the European Union.

The vice president has highlighted that both the employers and the unions come to the call with "proposals", a provision that she has interpreted as "good news" and in response to which she has shown herself willing to "try to reach an agreement."

"I say loud and clear that we are not going to allow Spanish workers to be victims of loss of purchasing power," said Díaz, after pointing out that the CPI will close November between 3.7 and 3.8%.

In this context, the head of Labor has insisted that the SMI is "the best tool against working poverty" and has highlighted that it has made it possible to reduce the redistributive gap between women and men by 5 points.
