Andreas Scheuer, and the experts: the Best barn ever

The Federal Minister of transport has, it is currently not easy. He tried everything to put themselves in the best light. This can only be achieved to a limited extent.

Scheuer would like to have a better Image than that of the "car-Minister". Now Yes photo: imago

BERLIN taz | The ailing Federal transport Minister Andreas Scheuer has it these days is not easy, many wait for months on the news of his dismissal. But is the CSU-man mentioned nothing, as it occurs on the Tuesday evening in the Auditorium Friedrichstrasse in Berlin-Mitte in the green sweater and a dark jacket to the Podium. For the second Time within a few months, Scheuer is in this room. The last Time he was here, at an event held by the Bicycle Association ADFC, he makes the roughly 200 listeners know. For Radpolitik has Scheuer made a lot of money to loose. "The mood was good, you can be inspired", is calling Scheuer.

The audience is not upset.

It will sit this evening in front of all transport researchers and representatives of the industry in the parquet. And where there is no spark so right, so much so the Minister is trying also.

The academics and (a few) Academics have come to a parliamentary evening of the "National platform for future mobility". This is a government-appointed Commission to develop recommendations for action. Involved representatives from science, politics, industry, trade unions and environmental associations. The Commission should try to get to the various interests under a hat, the bounce example in Autonomous Driving or the transition from combustion engines to electric cars to each other.

Scheuer speaks of "a broad-based process" and emotions would leave with mobility issues. "We don't think about is the automobile," he calls. Scheuer is not relaxed, but they are also not driven.

No spark jumps, so much Scheuer

he is because of the problems caused by Car-toll-disaster efforts under huge pressure. Scheuer had signed contracts with the toll operators before the European court of justice had to decide about the legality of the project. Since the judges have banned the toll, are claims for damages of more than half a billion euros in the room.

Elsewhere shows Scheuer is quite possible that this debacle is eating away at him. As the Minister has recently whined about the attacks on him extensively of the CSU party Executive, to party his boss Markus Söder media have been reportedly demonstratively disinterested – ouch!

But back to Berlin, where Scheuer is compared to his academic audience in a good mood. In the discussion on the future of mobility not only on the automobile, explains Scheuer again. "We think about different modes of transport."

In reality, Scheuer is not so much the lanes on the road, as he would like to make this evening believe. His schedule is the result in any case, the response to a request of the Greens in the Bundestag, speaks a different language. In the past year he has met eleven Times separately with representatives of the auto industry, but not a single Time he had an individual appointment with representatives of environmental associations.

The Auditorium in Berlin anyway, Scheuer is the right stage to talk about the a lot of money for Cycling and the many, many billions of euros for the train, which represents the Federal government in the coming years. "We will invest as much as never before in the transport sector," he says and announces that he wants to write to all mayors in the country, so that they line up in front of the town hall or the gym stations for electric cars charging.

Always praise, and he is ensnared by the experts present for their participation in the work of the Commission. "If you don't write about me in a positive way, then at least the experts of the National platform for the future of mobility," he says to the journalists in the room directed. Applause it is also. The applause at the end is, at best, friendly.

Before Scheuer to discuss the Auditorium exits and the Experts among themselves, speaks with the Moderator of the Evening, the Journalist Alfons Frese from the daily mirror, and briefly to the Minister. "A lack of Marketing, you can't blame them," says Frese. "One has the impression that you are one of the most successful Ministers of transport of all time." Since the dry professionals laugh at myself.
