2017 was a successful year for the global financial elite. Their assets increased four times as much as last year.

The wealth of world's 500 wealthiest people has grown by just under a trillion dollars this year. In total, y currently have 5.3 trillion US dollars (about 4.5 trillion euros), as US news agency Bloomberg told. A year ago, it was 4.4 trillion US dollars (approximately 3.7 trillion euros).

The richest of wealthy were thus able to multiply ir assets by 23 percent. This increase is four times as high as 2016, Bloomberg reported. The assets of 500 wealthiest were up on average daily by 2.7 billion US dollars (just under 2.3 billion euros).

The data comes from Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of richest people of world. At top is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with a fortune of currently 99.6 billion US dollars (about 83.7 billion euros). Behind it are Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, and US investor Warren Buffett.

Most of riches in ranking come from USA: The 159 American billionaires increased this year ir assets by 315 billion US dollars (just under 265 billion euros). Bezos alone won 34.2 billion US dollars (about 28.7 billion euros).

According to information HingegenMilliardäre, largest asset gains were recorded in China. The assets of 38 Chinese listed in index grew by 177 billion US dollars this year (just under 149 billion euros). This corresponds to an increase of 65 percent. The case of Xu Jiayin, founder of real estate company China Evergrande Group, stands out: Jiayins assets increased by 25.9 billion US dollars (about 21.8 billion euros) compared with last year – or by 350 percent.

On average, billionaires of technology industry benefited most. However, according to ranking re are also losers. Thus, assets of 58 of 500 billionaires decreased by a total of 46 billion US dollars (about 38.6 billion euros).
