In event of an explosion at a supermarket in St. Petersburg, at least ten people were injured according to official information. According to prosecutor's office, a self-built explosive device was detonated. This had explosive force of 200 grams of dynamite, said Svetlana Petrenko, spokeswoman for state investigating committee in Moscow. The bomb was equipped with additional metal parts. The Committee is highest Russian investigative authority.

The prosecutor's office is investigating his own claims for attempted murder. It remains unclear wher re is a terrorist background. No motive will be excluded, said Petrenko. Previously it had been reported that investigators did not assume a stop.

Russian news agencies reported that explosion occurred in a locker that stood in a storage area for customer pockets. At first, nothing was known about perpetrators. The supermarket is located norast of city centre.

In April, 16 people were killed in a self-suicide in Petersburg subway and more than 50 were injured. A few days ago it became known that Russian authorities were able to prevent an attack series in city by means of information from US intelligence service CIA. Russian President Vladimir Putin had called US president Donald Trump and thanked him for clues.

According to Russian domestic intelligence, several men were arrested in course of se investigations, which were to have connections to so-called "Islamic State". Russia estimates that thousands of people from former Soviet republics in Central Asia have joined IS.
