The rules on public service provision on the Internet should become looser, the Ministerial Conference decided. For this, the broadcasters need to save more.

Broadcasting reform: ARD and ZDF content may stay on the internet longer

The public service broadcasters are allowed to make ir content available on Internet longer in future. That is what Prime Ministers agreed at ir meeting in Saarbrücken. The rule that online offers such as crime scene after seven days must be taken from website should coincide with broadcasting reform. "We want to loosen this up and change it," said Rhineland-Palatinate head of government Malu Dreyer. It is available to Broadcasting Commission of countries.

The broadcasting Commission is also dissatisfied with saving efforts of broadcasters. At end of September, ARD, ZDF and Germany had submitted radio reports. They were a "first step," said Dreyer. "Furr measures and reform steps" are necessary, however, to make broadcasters better.

Dreyer announced that ban on press-like offers would be furr substantiated. "The ban on similarity of press is of course preserved," she stressed. That's a signal to publishers. Newspapers and magazines have long criticized fact that offer of ARD and ZDF is becoming too big on net.

The Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) welcomes new decision. "Already current order is so broadly defined that broadcasters obviously hardly see a border for textual reporting," BDZV said. "The existing control system by broadcasting councils also does not seem to be sufficiently functional in this respect. These two points need to be clarified in furr debate. "

However, new rules will not be forthcoming until February next year, as part of 22nd Amendment to Broadcasting Agreement. The 21st amendment will be signed next month. It lays down, inter alia, a regulation on data protection and a simplification of cooperation among broadcasters.

At beginning of ministerial conference, Saxony-Anhalt media minister Rainer Robra called for ZDF to be only national broadcaster and to regionalize ARD. At edge of conference he "his demand:" I see it from viewpoint of an East German federal state. We do not feel sufficiently represented and represented in ARD. " The Ministerial conference now shared that re would be no question of abolishing ARD.

ARD chief Karola will praised decisions of Prime Ministers as a clear commitment to a strong public service broadcasting.
