Journalist Award: Time-Online-science journalist awarded

Dagny Lüdemann, head of knowledge and digital at time Online, has been awarded Universitas Prize for science journalism. The Hanns Martin Schleyer Foundation honors her long-standing work as a builder between science and society. Its commitment is due to fact that "scientific topics are increasingly perceived and reflected in younger generation," foundation writes in its explanatory memorandum.

The award, endowed with 10,000 euros, is one of most important prizes for science journalism in Germany. The Universitas prize was launched in 2008 and is awarded every two years. The prize winners are determined by a jury – you cannot apply. The award is aimed at journalists who understand how to portray scientifically researched in such a way that it is also recognizable in its significance for society.

Dagny Lüdemann was born in Hamburg and studied biology and French in Hamburg as well as French literary studies in Montpellier. She wrote free for daily newspapers and magazines, including spectrum of science, Geo or PM magazine. After internship and several years as a writer at Tagesspiegel she changed 2008 to time online. Since 2011 she has been managing fields of knowledge and digital in Berlin editorial office.

The award ceremony will take place on 30 November in Berlin.
