The Hermit's shadow years are lonely and heavy. The hermit once stood in middle of life, he was a favourite of media. Then he made mistakes, he was ridiculed and broken, he lost almost everything. But after long nights of doubt and searching, he is now in pure and returns to life, richly endowed with knowledge and understanding. The depth of his truth corresponds to measure of his loneliness. And this truth does not tolerate compromises.
In se days, Christian Lindner (FDP) is this figure, but it could also be or politicians in Europe. They represent a new type, and even if, like Sebastian briefly in Austria, y were still ministers, y give impression that y come from anor world, freshly purified and wise from experience, deeper in knowledge and full of energy in political life. They are behaving like initiates of future.
The new politicians have a mission, but y do not crowd, some even look shy and worrying. They see mselves as part of a movement rar than as part of a party, because it belongs to old, to inventory of past. Karl-Theodor to Guttenberg (CSU) also belongs to new politician-type. This sends out paradoxical characters so that ir person is not unique, not immediately readable. The new guy loves tradition and is progressive. He does not attack power and knows how to use it. In hour of decision, when he is summoned, he is ready.
To mythical image of new politician, narrative of overpowering of old Dragons is obligatory. The old Dragons are for him powers of standstill and stewards of status quo, it is grey-mottled wing aides of endless Center, block of power from brakes, bearers of concern, small spirits, big moralists, progress enemies, technology enemies, Growth enemies. You don't want to go soft. With angelic tongues y are told to conscience, but y do not want to hear truth, y only want to dilute it.
If politicians put such pictures of mselves into world, if staging is crushing political programme, n it is a sign of crisis – not just crisis of politics, but of nation states. They can solve ir home-made problems, but with problems of world society y stand with ir backs to wall with ir parties. In case of installation of fibre optic cables, housing, transport, child benefit, fight against old-age poverty and a care emergency – agreement is possible at any time on national issues, here one can act. Quite different, however, in climate protection, in migration, in fight against blackmail power of global players and data kraken, against tax dumping, tax avoidance and tax fraud. The pressure from outside is unloading inside – and a politician is coming out, simulating his enormous power of action: dynamism, determination, modernization.

He has a precise idea of modernization, with him behind empty formula a crystal clear diagnosis and a consistent rapy, one could also say a worldview. Wherever it is presented, finding is same: our countries have wax in ir ears, y are deaf to rumor of coming and imminent danger. The state ship is not prepared for storms of world market. It's a bit of a brew. The national politician hears it. The ors don't hear it yet.
And what does modernization mean for him? Modernization means releasing all economic forces uncompromisingly, not tying up market economy, not paralyzing m by virtues of unfavorable forms of existence. "People want to know: Who does politics in which money is put into fibre-optic network instead of just pension system?" That's what Christian Lindner says. Sebastian Kurz wouldn't say orwise.
In or words, anyone who tries to dig water out of economy weakens nation's self-assertion in struggle for survival. The new type of moderniser does not want to get a new ballast, he wants to throw off old man. Yes to an immigration law for qualified, no to family reunification for refugees. The conservation of environment is important, but it has to be reckoned with, because what helps nature if economy that is supposed to save it beforehand and citizens suffer in end as polar bears in Arctic. What would happen if "our workers" lost ir jobs without helping global climate?
