Fair Play Menarini International Awards, 2023 edition kicks off with "Champions Tell Their Stories" talk show at Piazza della Signoria, Florence
FLORENCE, Italy, July 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The countdown begins for the XXVII edition of the Menarini International Fair Play Awards. On Monday, July 3, the 2023 edition of the event, dedicated to the sporting values of ethics, fair play and respect, will officially begin in the city of Florence, with the long-awaited talk show "Champions Tell Their Stories". The program, open to the public, will be hosted by the journalist Ivan Zazzaroni for the second consecutive year and will begin at 9:00 p.m. in Piazza della Signoria, in the elevated area known as "Arengario", in front of Palazzo Vecchio. An evening in which the extraordinary lives of sports icons will be reviewed through anecdotes, curious facts and stories never told behind the scenes. Among the guests will be several renowned Menarini Fair Play Ambassadors who have written the history of international sport. Big names in Italian football like Giancarlo Antognoni and Arrigo Sacchi will take the stage, along with two legendary Olympians: multiple 400m hurdles world record holder Edwin Moses and Tommie Smith, sprinter who became a symbol of the fight against discrimination racial.

One more year, the gathering will be broadcast live on the RTV38 channel, which will allow viewers to enjoy one of the most popular events of the Fair Play Menarini event from home. And there are still more emotions. On Tuesday, July 4, the winners will be received in the splendid setting of Piazzale Michelangelo for a gala dinner. On Wednesday, July 5, the Roman Theater of Fiesole will host the award ceremony for the first time, in the presence of the Minister of Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, Ambassador of the Menarini Fair Play since 2016. With musical performances by Neri per Caso and the swing band Papillon, the event will see the return to the stage of Federica Pellegrini, the "Divine" and all-time star of Italian swimming, who was inducted into the Awards Hall of Fame last year. The ceremony will be broadcast the following night on the Sportitalia chain.
