TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is a class of copolymers that can be plasticized at high temperatures and has rubber elasticity at room temperature, and SBC is a kind of TPE, whose products include SBS, SEBS, SIS and SEPS, which are widely used in footwear. , asphalt modification, resin modification, adhesives, food packaging, medical equipment, sports equipment, automotive and consumer electronics.

In the 1970s, the Yanshan Petrochemical Research Institute developed the butyllithium preparation and SBS polymerization technologies. Baling New Material SEPS plant, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons, started production in August 2017.
