His helpfulness has paid a 44-year-old in Swabian Haldenwang (Landkreis Ober Allgäu) expensive. The man wanted to help a reclining motorist who allegedly had no German money with him-and fell on a con, as police told on Thursday. The man drove past incident on Friday on breakdown vehicle and offered driver his help. This one, a native Romanian, stated that re was no more gasoline in tank. Moreover, he could not refuel because he only had Bulgarian banknotes. The helper n drove man to bank to withdraw 800 euros and give him this for tank filling and repair of car. In return, he received 2000 Lewa of Bulgarian currency. Actually, exchange rate is 0.5: one euro corresponds to half a Lew. However, fraudster gave his helper banknotes, which have been extremely devalued since a currency reform in Bulgaria. According to police, 2000 Lewa of old bills are only two Lewa values today-i.e. one euro.
