31% of the assistance that was attended to in 2023 was solved thanks to on-site repair, a more professional and sustainable service that also benefits suppliers and customers

Madrid, February 14, 2024.- In 2023, Roadside Assistance at Allianz Partners Spain has become more sustainable thanks to on-site repairs. These interventions by roadside assistance vehicles (tow trucks, workshop vehicles) manage to provide a solution to the damaged customer at the scene of the accident, without the need for towing to the workshop. In this way, fewer kilometers are traveled, thus reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. In fact, the difference in the distance traveled is 22 kilometers on average - 36 kilometers in interventions with transfer to the workshop compared to the 14 kilometers involved in an on-site repair - which translates, in total, to 60% of carbon dioxide emissions less into the atmosphere per trip, approximately. The figures are much more representative if global data are observed. Of the more than one million cases that Allianz Partners Spain assists each year, around 300,000 are on-site repairs. This means that, thanks to this type of intervention, a total of 400 tons of less carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere each year. Depending on the type of vehicle, last year it was achieved that 30% of assistance to light vehicles were on-site repairs. The most common breakdowns that can be solved thanks to this type of assistance are starting problems, a flat tire, a replacement for a wheel in poor condition, a key failure or a minor accident. In the case of heavy vehicles, the figure increased to 45%. Although in this case, the necessary means and professional skills required are more specific. Allianz Partners' commitment to Sustainability is complete. In fact, the company has an increasingly professional and prepared network of suppliers with the aim of offering a fast and efficient service, without the need to tow. To do this, the appropriate circumstances must be met and in no case should the safety of professionals be put at risk. Antonio Ibáñez, head of the Technical Suppliers Department at Allianz Partners Spain, points out: "We are very demanding with the quality and service of our suppliers, making them participate in our Sustainability strategy. Of course, without forgetting that, in the Roadside Assistance, the priority is to guarantee safety above any other objective." On the other hand, the advantages of on-site repair are not only environmental: it is also much more comfortable for the customer. If repair is possible, the user could resume driving immediately without having to go to the workshop and wait for the vehicle to be repaired. It is also, therefore, a service that reduces assistance costs and benefits all parties involved. The objective that Allianz Partners has set for 2024 is to continue growing in this aspect. The goal is to increase the number of on-site repairs by 5% and, in this way, further reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. In the short term, the Allianz Group aims to become a company with zero net emissions, that is, one that achieves a balance between the emissions produced in its activities and those it removes from the atmosphere.
