The A Coruña Congress Palace hosts the main national meeting of Professional Congress Organizers on February 22 and 24. The MICE sector, growing, mobilized 13 billion euros and 10.4 million travelers in Spain in 2023

A CORUÑA, February 21, 2024.- A Coruña will host the 36th edition of the National Congress of OPC Spain between February 22 and 24. The congress palace, Palexco, will be the infrastructure in charge of hosting the bulk of the meeting, organized jointly by the Spanish and Galician OPC associations and which will address the sustainability of the events, the adaptation of the MICE sector (meetings, incentives, congresses and events) to the emergence of artificial intelligence, taxation or sponsorship management. More than 300 congressmen will participate in the conclave, including professionals, decision-makers (from public institutions, companies and professional associations) and students. The Congress brings together a business sector with an annual business volume of 13,000 million euros (2023) and in continuous growth. According to data on the evolution of the MICE industry from the Spain Convention Bureau, the number of travelers attributed to MICE is 10.4 million, with an average expense per attendee per day that is close to 252 euros, compared to the 127 euros spent on average the leisure tourist. The 36th National Congress of OPC Spain will be set up as a classroom in which attendees will be able to update their knowledge with top-level speakers, but it will also serve as an agora to share ideas, concerns and discoveries. The annual event is one of the main networking nodes among the most active and innovative OPCs in Spain, who will take advantage of their stay in A Coruña to learn more about suppliers, destinations, decision-makers and clients. 360º Commitment The program of the 36th National OPC Congress Spain has been developed taking into account the so-called 360º Commitment, that is, the need for companies in the MICE sector to offer their clients complete, useful, technologically updated but also conscious and sustainable services and experiences. Thus, among the presentations there are pieces on responsible management, mobility and accessibility; and about the enormous challenge, with its pros and cons, that the introduction of artificial intelligence in the organization of events represents. Other topics to discuss will be the marketing and communication of a congress; attracting sponsors; or taxation and developments in financial legislation. MICE Forum In parallel, A Coruña will also host, on the morning of Thursday the 22nd, the meeting of the MICE Forum, a space for debate that brings together OPC Spain with other associations that represent companies of venues, hostesses, technology or incentive tourism. The congress program will be completed with visits to various interesting locations in the city, such as the Marina, the Old City or the Helmut Newton photography exhibition that can be seen in the port, and to some restaurants where you can discover the most representative of Galician gastronomy.
