SEVILLE, February 15, 2024.- To achieve more sustainable and profitable productions, agriculture and livestock must join the digital revolution. The University of Seville is a pioneer in facing this challenge by offering innovative courses that are transforming the way professionals in the agri-food sector apply technologies. With more than 200 participants from all over Spain, these courses have demonstrated the US's commitment to academic excellence and the innovation. The teaching team has stood out for its deep mastery of the subject and its ability to transmit knowledge effectively. According to the participants, the quality of the teaching has been exceptional, with an average rating of 4.77 out of 5 in terms of mastery of the subject taught. But the success of these courses goes further. The participants highlighted the relevance of the contents for their daily work. With a 4.11 out of 5 in terms of applicability of the knowledge acquired, it is evident that these courses not only offer theory, but also practical tools that any professional can immediately implement in their daily activities. These courses have been the meeting point perfect for the exploration of innovative technologies transferable to the sector, having highlighted, with a rating of 4.40 out of 5, its relevance for the modernization and competitiveness of the sector. In the 2022/2023 edition, the US taught 5 of the 30 courses offered by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) within the framework of the Competence Center for Agri-Food Digital Training:•  Digital tool for goat management: facilitates technical, economic and environmental management from the computer through more informed decisions through of a computer tool designed by staff from the University of Seville.•  Field practice with AI and drones in extensive tree crops: allows you to experience the possibilities of the future in first person by experimenting and building real solutions with these technologies.•  Artificial intelligence in agriculture : how artificial intelligence revolutionizes agriculture? It shows basic concepts and reveals how to apply AI to automate tasks and improve production efficiency.•  Data processing for irrigation scheduling: in the context of drought, optimizing water is critical. Teaches how to process and interpret dendrometry and canopy temperature data to schedule irrigation more efficiently, improving yield.•  Drone management in precision agriculture: improve crop yields by making the most of drone technology. Practical introduction to obtaining data with drones to monitor the health of crops, determine precise doses of phytosanitary products, create maps of inputs per plot or make information on agricultural machinery compatible. The Competence Center is an ambitious and necessary initiative to improve agri-food competitiveness . Combining online classes with practical sessions, it has demonstrated high effectiveness in promoting the adoption of digital technologies among professionals in agriculture, livestock and specialized technical advice, who receive resources, training and practical tools for free.
