This means that WeRide can now provide driverless Robotaxis charging service to the public in Yizhuang, Beijing.
Since the approval of driverless driving tests in the Pilot Zone in October 2022, WeRide has gradually obtained permits to carry out the "unmanned remote stage" demonstration application, the high-speed road tests of round trip to the airport, and now commercial operation, marking a leading development speed in the autonomous driving industry.
Passengers can call a WeRide Robotaxi within the designated area via the WeRide Go App and check the estimated cost. The Robotaxi will arrive at the designated pick-up point and passengers will have to verify their identity by scanning the QR code. The service covers popular destinations such as metro stations, residential areas, industrial and office parks, etc., with a total of 242 stops. 1 Robotaxi can transport 1 to 3 passengers at a time and operates from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
WeRide has been a leader in the Robotaxi area. In November 2018, WeRide launched China's first Robotaxi. The following year, WeRide launched the country's first commercial Robotaxi service in Guangzhou.
