Temptations: Soul legend Dennis Edwards is dead

Edwards was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up after family moved to Detroit. His far was a pastor and former Honky-Tonk piano player. In Alabama and later in Detroit, Edwards sang in choir of his far's church.

When Temptations 1968 separated from ir lead singer David Ruffin, Edwards joined group and ir label Motown. My girl, probably most famous title of The Temptations, had already been created. Edwards brought a slightly harder, coarser lead voice after Ruffins smooth vocals. In his time, among ors, songs such as Cloud Nine, I can't get next to you, masterpiece and Papa Was a Rollin' stone. For Cloud Nine in year 1968, The Temptations were first Motown band to receive a Grammy.

Multiple solo

Despite se successes, Edwards also went through changing years with Temptations. He did not make move to Atlantic label. 1977 he started his own projects instead. Soon after, he returned again. During this time of reunification, standing on top was also born.

Edwards left group again, and released 1984 his first of a total of three solo, don't look any furr. The eponymous single with Siedah Garrett became one of great duets of 1980s.
