Groundhog Day: Did Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?

It's Groundhog Day, which means we are in Punxsutawney to celebrate the prognostication from the world's most famous groundhog.

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. He predicts six more weeks of winter.

"I see teeth," his handler said as he emerged to cheers from his stump at Gobbler's Knob, where it was about 30 degrees out. "He's squealing; he's hollering. Phil is feisty."

Groundhog Day 2017: Watch Punxsutawney Phil's prediction

How do we know what Phil said? Only Phil's handlers can interpret the Seer of Seers' groundhogese. Here's how often he's been right over the past 131 years.

The inner circle claims Phil has never incorrectly predicted the weather, and any semblance of him being wrong can be blamed on translation. Whether or not you agree with that assessment, Phil and his translators have been correct about 65 percent of the time.

Punxsutawney Phil made his 131st prognostication around sunrise at 7:20 a.m.
