‘The Flash’ Season 3 Spoilers: Kid Flash Is Not Fast Enough To Protect Iris From Clive Yorkin In Episode 12 Trailer

A new dangerous metahuman takes center stage in next week’s episode of “The Flash.”

The trailer for Season 3, episode 12 of the CW series teases the emergence of Clive Yorkin (Matthew Kevin Anderson), a criminal who is methodically killing people by causing them to decompose at an accelerated rate.

“Anything he touched, turned to ash,” Barry (Grant Gustin) says in the clip.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) becomes Clive’s next target but it’s Iris (Candice Patton) who is caught in the crossfire.

As seen in the preview clip, the untouchable metahuman breaks into Barry and Iris’ place and finds the journalist alone. Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), a.k.a. Kid Flash, arrives at the scene but not soon enough to save his sister from Clive’s deadly touch.

Wally rushes Iris to S.T.A.R. Labs to seek medical help and blames himself for what happens.

At the end of last night’s episode of “The Flash,” Barry tells Wally that he’s the one who’s going to save Iris from Savitar. But because the young speedster isn’t fast enough to save Iris from Clive, it won’t be surprising if he starts questioning his capability in preventing her potential death at the hands of Savitar.

In the comics, Clive was an imprisoned career criminal who agreed to undergo an experiment called the Nephron Process after realizing that he had no chance for release. The experiment was supposed to cure him of his violent tendencies by making him associate crime with pain. But when the pleasure and pain centers in his brain were reversed during the experiment, Clive became insane and escaped prison.

The experiment gave him the ability to drain life energy from other people through touch, which he used to terrorize the whole city. The Flash tracked him down with the help of a teenage psychic, and defeated him by trapping him in a sinkhole. Will Barry beat Clive the same way on the show? Only time will tell.

“The Flash” Season 3, episode 12, aptly titled “Untouchable,” airs on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
