The candidate of the opposition in the presidential election of Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaïa, who is contesting the re-election of president Alexander Lukashenko, took refuge in Lithuania, announced Tuesday to AFP the minister of Lithuanian foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevicius.

"She arrived in Lithuania, and is in safety," said Mr. Linkevicius, when protests against the victory of president in belarus, elected for a sixth term, were dispersed by the police for the second night in a row. He has not provided any further details.
