A petition asks for removal of all statues of Leopold II in Brussels

The group "Repair History" was launched on Tuesday on the site change.org a new petition asking to remove all the statues of Leopold II on the territory of the city of Brussels. More than 20,000 people have already signed the petition, and the matter will be addressed at the next municipal Council of the City of Brussels, on Monday 8 June.

The petition comes in response to protests, "Black Lives Matter" (the life of the Black account, ed.), that are underway in the United States. The initiators find it incomprehensible that king Leopold II is still honoured in the public space after his actions against the congolese people.
