'Adventure Time' continues to delightfully confound: Nate Paige's MyTV Picks

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- "Adventure Time," which airs weeknights from 7-7:30 p.m. ET on Cartoon Network, started out about a boy and his dog seeking quirky adventures in the Land of Ooo. Now in its 8th season, the show has become a massive quest of self-discovery for Finn the Human - and developed a cult following in the process.

Equally humorous and confusing, the weird factor can sometimes reach levels of David Lynch-ian proportions in each 11-minute episode. While there are consistent themes of friendship and family throughout, don't try to analyze it; just go along for the ride.

Brain Dead Season One (CBS)

Speaking of quirky, something is adversely affecting the great minds of Washington, D.C. in the CBS sci-fi-/dark comedy series "Brain Dead," from the creators of "The Good Wife." The show stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Laurel, a young, eager Hill staffer who discovers that otherworldly bugs are eating the brains of Congress members and Hill staffers. Also starring Tony Shalhoub ("Monk"). Season One of "Brain Dead" is available on various streaming services including Amazon Prime and Hulu, as well as DVD.
